Researching a forthcoming lecture on my ancestors from The House of Cope including William Cope PC, Cofferer to Henry VII, Sir Anthony Cope, author and Principal Chamberlain to Queen Catherine Parr, Sir Anthony Cope, MP, first Baronet of Hanwell and High Sheriff of Oxfordshire, Sir Walter Cope, MP, owner of Cope Castle (before it was made into Holland House, Kensington), Earl of Holland (Henry Rich MP). Lecture will take place on 30 June 2027 in the 440th year of Sir Anthony Cope MP’s imprisonment in The Tower of London.

Presented a talk on my maternal ancestor, Erasmus Krykener, the master armorer to Henry VIII. This formed part of the 600th anniversary celebrations at The Guildhall Library. Thanks go to Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum, the V&A, Royal Armouries Leeds and Historic Royal Palaces.

Participated in a two-day conference ‘Shakespeare and The Sea’ to mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s first folio. I discussed William Strachey and his role as an academic, poet, writer, shipwreck survivor and government official of Virginia. His experiences inspired Shakespeare’s The Tempest.
